We are looking for a capable resource to coordinate tasks, ranging from simple activities to more complex plans. This role will provide on-site/on-call assistance to end users within the organization’s desktop computing environment in a timely and accurate manner to ensure optimal service delivery.
Position Overview
We are looking for an experienced Network Specialist to join our team in Perth. The role will focus on the design, implementation, administration, troubleshooting, and optimisation of enterprise LAN, WAN, switching, and wireless network infrastructure.
The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Cisco Wireless, Catalyst 9800 Wireless LAN Controllers (WLC), Cisco Catalyst Centre, Wi-Fi 6/6E, Cisco switching, network optimisation, LAN/WAN technologies, and wireless site acceptance testing (SAT).
Cisco’s current documentation positions Catalyst Centre alongside Catalyst 9800 WLCs for enterprise WLAN deployment, monitoring, and troubleshooting, including Wi-Fi 6/6E environments.
Key Responsibilities
Cisco Wireless & Wi-Fi
- Design, configure, implement, and support Cisco enterprise wireless networks.
- Administer and troubleshoot Cisco Catalyst 9800 Wireless LAN Controllers (WLC).
- Configure and manage Cisco wireless access points, WLANs/SSIDs, RF profiles, roaming, authentication, and wireless policies.
- Support and optimize Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 6E deployments.
- Perform wireless troubleshooting covering:
- Connectivity issues
- Authentication failures
- Roaming issues
- RF interference
- Coverage issues
- Channel utilization
- Client performance
- Capacity and congestion
- Perform RF optimisation and Radio Resource Management (RRM) activities, including channel and transmit-power optimisation. Cisco documents RRM/DCA as mechanisms for optimizing wireless channel allocation and coverage.
- Monitor wireless performance and identify opportunities for network optimisation.
- Troubleshoot wireless QoS and performance issues where required.
Cisco Catalyst Centre
- Configure and manage network infrastructure through Cisco Catalyst Center.
- Use Catalyst Center for network monitoring, assurance, configuration, provisioning, and troubleshooting.
- Monitor wireless health, client connectivity, AP performance, and network events.
- Use Catalyst Center analytics and assurance capabilities to identify and resolve network performance issues.
- Support network automation and standardization through Catalyst Center.
Switching
- Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Cisco Catalyst switches.
- Strong understanding of:

LAN & WAN
- Provide technical support for enterprise LAN and WAN infrastructure.
- Troubleshoot connectivity, routing, latency, packet loss, and performance issues.
- Work with network teams and carriers/providers on WAN-related incidents.
- Support routing and network connectivity between offices, data centers, and remote sites.
- Participate in network implementation, migration, and upgrade activities.
Site Acceptance Testing (SAT)
- Perform Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) for new or upgraded network and wireless infrastructure.
- Validate Cisco switches, WLCs, APs, LAN/WAN connectivity, WLANs, and network services.
- Conduct functional and performance testing against defined technical requirements.
- Verify wireless coverage, connectivity, roaming, throughput, authentication, and overall network performance.
- Document test results, issues, defects, and remediation activities.
- Coordinate with project, implementation, vendor, and client teams during site handover.
Network Optimization
- Analyze network performance and identify areas requiring optimization.
- Optimize wireless RF configuration, channel allocation, transmit power, capacity, and coverage.
- Investigate recurring network incidents and perform root-cause analysis.
- Recommend improvements to network architecture, configuration, performance, and reliability.
- Maintain network documentation, diagrams, configuration standards, and operational procedures.

- Proven experience with Catalyst 9800 WLC and Catalyst Centre.
- Practical experience with Wi-Fi 6/6E deployments.
- Experience performing wireless/network site surveys, SAT, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
- Experience working in enterprise or large-scale network environments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.
- Ability to work independently in an onsite Perth environment.
- Relevant Cisco certification such as CCNA/CCNP Enterprise or CCNP Wireless would be advantageous.
