About the Role
We are seeking an experienced MacOS Specialist to join our team as a full-time independent contractor. The ideal candidate will have deep technical expertise in Apple ecosystems, macOS administration, and device management in business environments. You’ll be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing Mac systems, ensuring seamless integration and performance across our organization’s infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage, configure, and maintain macOS systems and related Apple devices.
- Perform software installations, updates, and security patches.
- Troubleshoot system issues and provide advanced technical support to end-users.
- Implement and manage Apple device management solutions (e.g., Jamf, Kandji, Mosyle).
- Ensure compliance with organizational IT policies and security standards.
- Collaborate with IT and network teams to support cross-platform environments (Windows, Linux, iOS).
- Maintain system documentation, procedures, and asset tracking.
- Optimize system performance and enhance user experience with macOS tools and configurations.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 4 years of hands-on experience in macOS system administration or technical support.
- Strong knowledge of macOS architecture, configuration, and security best practices.
- Experience with MDM solutions (Jamf Pro, Kandji, or similar).
- Familiarity with scripting (Bash, Python, or AppleScript) for automation and efficiency.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently as a self-motivated contractor.
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Experience managing mixed environments (macOS + Windows/Linux).
- Knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, VPN).
- Apple Certified Support Professional (ACSP) or similar certification.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, or similar).
Contract Details
Type: Independent Contractor (No benefits)
Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week
Location: Calgary, Alberta (on-site or hybrid options available)
Start Date: Immediate / As soon as possible
Compensation: Competitive hourly rate based on experience
